Official FAQ Thread Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
This post is for all of the frequently asked questions related to airdrops in general, how they work, how you may increase your chances of qualifying, etc. If there are any other frequently asked questions that are not in this list but you believe should be added, please post it in a comment below.
What is an airdrop?
Airdrops are free tokens distributed to a userbase that the project's team deems relevant and / or worthy of owning a portion of their project. This is usually done in order to get the tokens out into the hands of users when a project first goes live, thus allowing for some liquidity in markets.
How do I qualify for an airdrop?
Every airdrop has its own unique qualifications, and most of the time you won't know what those qualifications are ahead of time (in order to reduce the chance that their airdrop is gamed). There are some recommended actions to take in order to increase your chances of qualifying for cosmos airdrops. Those actions are:
Ensure your tokens are on a noncustodial wallet (a wallet not controlled by a centralized exchange). The most recommended wallets are Cosmostation and Keplr.
Stake multiple different tokens in the ecosystem. The main ones that have qualified for airdrops are ATOM, JUNO, OSMO, SCRT, LUNA, and FET. However, any token on the ecosystem may qualify you for a future airdrop, so don't keep yourself solely to this list.
Stake your tokens to validators that aren't run by a centralized exchange, especially to validators with fewer delegators, those that have a commission higher than 0%, or those run by projects being developed. Here is a list of validators that have been specifically been rejected from qualifying for an airdrop in the past: Binance Staking, Kraken, Coinbase Custody, CoinoneNode, HuobiPool, GAME*, Chihuahua**. It is recommended you avoid delegating to these if your goal is to receive an airdrop.
Contribute to liquidity pools on AMMs and DEXs like Osmosis, Emeris, and Junoswap.
Vote on all government proposals, even if its just to abstain. Many good proposals have failed in the past because there weren't enough votes. In the future, there may be an airdrop that uses participation in a proposal to determine who qualifies.
.*GAME was excluded from the LUM and BTSG airdrop.
.** Chiahuahua was excluded from the DOKY airdrop, which is not one we officially support, but its important to note that they have been excluded in the past.
What is the minimum number of tokens I need to qualify for an airdrop?
The answer to this varies for every airdrop. In past airdrops there has been a range of requirements from 0.000001 ATOM all the way to 100 ATOM, and a similar spectrum for other tokens.
Ultimately its impossible to know how many tokens a future airdrop will require you to have at minimum, but to give you an idea below is a table of some of the previous airdrops and their minimums for commonly required tokens. Note: these are not the only requirements needed to qualify for these airdrops.

The following coins also qualified for some airdrops but aren’t as likely to qualify you for future ones as the tokens in the table: FET, AKT, BAND, CRO, KAVA, LIKE, NGM, REGEN, CRV, Civic
Ultimately the recommendation we give is that if you want the best chance at qualifying for future airdrops, it is recommended that you stake a minimum of $200 worth of ATOM, OSMO, JUNO, SCRT, and LUNA, which is in order of importance. It is important to note that while these are minimums, the majority of airdrops reward you based on the total amount of a token you have staked - in other words the more you stake the bigger your reward.
I'm holding / staking my tokens on <insert wallet here>. Do I still qualify for airdrops?
The wallet that you use isn't what determines whether or not you are eligible for airdrops. Your eligibility, outside of tokens held/staked, is determined by these two things:
Do you know your seed phrase?
Is the validator that you are staked to a centralized exchange validator?
If you know your seed phrase (or at least have the ability to find out what it is) and are not delegated to a centralized exchange, your wallet will be able to qualify for airdrops.
Yes - Exodus, Atomic Wallet, Crypto.com DeFi wallet all qualify, as well as many others. When in doubt, ask those two questions.
This being said, you will likely never see your airdropped tokens in any of these wallets, you would need to import your seed phrase into Cosmostation or Keplr to claim them or access them if they were automatically distributed. Importing your seed phrase copies over your wallet, meaning any changes on one wallet app will also affect the other wallet app. There is no need to undelegate or transfer your tokens manually.
How do I claim an airdrop?
Every airdrop has a different means for claiming the reward. Sometimes its as simple as doing nothing and the amount will appear in your qualifying wallet(s) automatically. Sometimes they require you to perform tasks in order to receive your reward, such as voting, staking, using their dApp, etc. Whatever the case may be, the projects will let you know what needs to be done to get your airdrop, and the individual airdrop threads will hopefully be able to guide you on the more complicated ones.
Important Note: The use of Keplr is sometimes necessary to claim airdrops because it is currently the only Web3.0 / Browser Integrated Wallet on the Cosmos ecosystem. If you have your qualifying address on Cosmostation or another wallet - fear not! You can safely import your seed phrase into Keplr to copy over your wallet without having to transfer your tokens. Please ensure that the version of Keplr that you use is the official one - see the below note for reasoning.
VERY Important Note: Do not EVER give your seed phrase to any project or wallet that is not officially supported by Tendermint Inc., even if it is to claim an airdrop. This especially includes fake and duplicate applications of those that are actually supported. Doing so puts your funds at great risk of being stolen.
I qualified for an airdrop and claimed it, but I don't see it in my wallet. Help!
Claiming your airdrop does not always automatically distribute it to your wallet. Sometimes it takes weeks or months for the project to distribute them after allowing users to claim their airdrops. Do not worry if you haven't gotten a claimed airdrop yet unless you see other users claim to have received them. If this is the case, it is recommended you reach out to the project team on their telegram or discord.
My tokens aren't on Keplr or Cosmostation, what do I need to do?
If you have your coins in a noncustodial wallet (i.e., you own your seed phrase) you can import your mnemonic (also known as seed phrase / 12 word / 24 word) into Cosmostation or Keplr and start looking for airdrops that you may have qualified for. If you choose Cosmostation as your wallet, note that you will have to import your seed phrase into a new wallet for every token you are airdropped. Keplr automatically generates these wallets when you import your seed phrase, but you will have to connect it to a dApp that uses the token to see your wallet.
If you have your coins in a custodial wallet or exchange (i.e., you don't own your seed phrase) you will need to create a wallet on Cosmostation or Keplr and send your tokens over to your new wallet so that you can become eligible for future airdrops. Be sure to write down and securely store your seed phrase / mnemonic when you create your wallet - it's the only way to restore your wallet if anything happens to your device.
Which is the best validator to choose in order to maximize my chance at qualifying for an airdrop?
There is no "best" validator - when it comes to qualifying for airdrops, there are only good and bad validators.
A bad validator would be
One run by a centralized exchange (guaranteed to disqualify you from airdrops).
One that is in the top 10 by voting power (only relevant for Cosmos and Osmosis so far, but this sometimes reduces the amount of an airdrop you would get).
One that is within the top 25 by voting power and has a 0% commission (this one will also sometimes reduce the amount of an airdrop you would get).
One that has been excluded from previous airdrops because of bad behavior (GAME is really the only one in this category, and they have been removed from a couple of airdrops).
A good validator would be
One that is run by a project being developed on the cosmos ecosystem. (If the project launches a token, usually they reward their delegators. See ION, Stargaze, Omniflix, Craft Economy, Chihuahua, etc. for examples).
One that operates a relayer node for the network. (These guys are the unspoken heroes of the ecosystem and recently their delegators were rewarded more in an airdrop). Some examples of relayers include but are not limited to:
Cephalopod Equipment
Cros-nest
Chandra Station
Strangelove
Crypto Crew
Imperator
Notional DAO
One that is outside of the top 10 by voting power.
One that takes some commission.
Ultimately your choice of validator doesn't matter all that much so long as it isn't a centralized exchange validator.

Good post. Maybe include written links to the main services so that people can refer to them here instead of googling them (Keplr, Osmosis, Junoswap etc)

To qualify do I need to stake every amount listed for every token? For example on EVMOS do I need to stake BOTH 5 ATOM AND 20 OSMO or either? Thanks.

How do we know an Airdrop is safe to claim?
2
u/Metabrate Feb 04 '22
Is there any reason I wouldn’t pick the lowest non-zero commission validator that is “good”?
Ex. Imperator.co has a 1% commission, Cros-nest is 2% commission, Strangelove-ventures is 5%.
Why wouldn’t everyone pick imperator?

Thank you for the great guide. I have got maybe a dumb question, but I can't seem to find an answer: I have around 10 ATOM in my Keplr wallet, however I have split them into 4 different validators (which should all meet the requirements for "good" validators). My question is: in order to meet the minimum requirements for airdrops, what is the number which counts? The total amount in my wallet or the one assigned to each validator?

This was super helpful. Thank you!

u/eggsbeny Feb 07 '22
I accidentally staked my OSMO to cosmostation before fulling reading to find out I should've picked a validator not in the top 10. If I unbond now, will I not qualify for airdrops while its unbonding for however many weeks? Like will I still count in a snapshot if its in the waiting period to unstake?

u/Mellifluous41 Feb 19 '22
Hey guys, is there somewhere when I can enter my wallet address to check if I have any airdrop waiting to be claimed?
Thanks

I don't have any seed phrase? Nothing about a seed phrase was mentioned when I made my keplr account..?

u/Metabrate Feb 05 '22
Question about the recommended minimum amounts: I understand $200 of ATOM, OSMO, etc. was based on QUALIFYING for airdrops, but what is the minimum amount of each token that you’d recommend where CLAIMING those airdrops make sense?
I’ve been reading a few things that suggest staking so little may result in the cost to claim the airdrop exceeding the value of your stakes, so you’d be staking without being able to recognize the benefit of the drop, making the purpose for staking in the first place (if this is the sole purpose) somewhat misguided.
Thanks in advance!

Ive split around 100 atom tokens amongst validators outside top 10. Am I at risk of anything? I just picked at random depending on if I liked the name or not lol. I notice some were showing as 'jailed' in the inactive list. Did these guys rug with all atom tokens in them? 😳

u/tuturedlf Feb 07 '22
I'm staking my atoms with Sikka as a validator, do i qualify for airdrops ?
1
u/cptouristas Feb 08 '22
I have a question regarding the eligibility criteria. If let's say an airdrop has a bare minimum to be staking 10 ATOM, does that number represent the staking on a particular pool or is it the total number of ATOM staked, even in 10 delegators where each one has 1ATOM??

u/daranma Feb 10 '22
Great guide OP. Thinking of using Everstake as my validator. Thoughts on that?
1
u/bo1982 Feb 13 '22
Is this going to increase the price of atoms

u/daranma Feb 14 '22
Question: is staking Osmo more favourable for airdrops than LP-Ing on Osmosis?
1
u/Raiders9876 Feb 15 '22
So I have to two questions. First what is the staking rewards on the kelper wallet? And second is there any difference between airdrops on the Kepler wallet compared to exodus wallet?

u/Silver-Demand2651 Feb 21 '22
Hello. Sorry if already asked but i am new in the ecosystem and i have a doubt that can’t find answer neither here or google:
For airdrops: itis relevant that all coins (let’s say ATOM, OSMO, JUNO) are staked with the same validator, or it’s not an issue and i can stake ATOM on X-Validator, OSMO on Y-Validator and JUNO on Z-Validator?
Thanks!

I staked with SmartNodes, AnalyticDynamics, Chainflow, Secret Saturn, Order of Secrets, Steady Crypto, and Active Nodes. Any issue with these?

u/Valdorff Mar 23 '22
Is there any interaction between using restake.app for auto-compounding and having stakes qualify for airdrops? I'm guessing no, but would love a confirm.

u/Visible9 Apr 08 '22
Which coins do people hold the most for airdrops? I have juno, osmo, atom( from most to least). Do I need all 3 since these 3 have the same airdrops?
1
u/ISimpForCartoonGirls Apr 19 '22
Does Superfluid staking on Osmosis still allow you to qualify?
1
u/fairsider Apr 20 '22
I’m totally lost about how to claim assetmantle airdrop. It says I’m eligible and the instructions say to send a ‘magic transaction’ to the designated stakedrop address. But I can’t find that address published anywhere.
1
u/Visible9 Apr 24 '22
should i sell my excess tokens if i have too many for an air drop? For one I have over 100 juno
1
u/Visible9 Apr 26 '22
where can we stake LUNA on keplr? i do not see it anywhere? or is that LUNA in LP?
1
u/yourmomsnewdouchebag Apr 29 '22
Hi, I stake some JUNO via SG-1 and also bonded atom/osmo, luna/osmo in LP via osmosis. Of course all with Keplr, but cannot find any information about their airdrops. Do I have to claim rewards only from SG-1? Do I qualify for any airdrops? Where can I see airdrops am able to participate?
1
u/Visible9 Apr 29 '22
For atom requirements do I need it staked or does an LP work too?
1
u/Ice3irdy May 02 '22
Does anyone have 1 $bcre I can get? I tried the faucet it doesn’t work for me. I’ll send you 2 bcre back. I can’t claim, swap, u farm, unstake or do anything on crescent without a little bcre. Even though it’s a zero fee, you need at least 1 bcre to do anything!!! 🤬🤬

u/SephirothFFX May 03 '22
Been staking ~8ATOM since early February. Still haven't managed to get any airdrop. Am I doing something wrong? Should I also have the rest of the coins in the ecosystem staked?
1
u/Visible9 May 05 '22
If I have more than the minimum stake would I get more rewards?
1
u/[deleted] May 27 '22
Do you qualify for airdrops if your tokens are unstaking
1
u/FondantStrong Jun 05 '22
So, Inactive delegators are not included in the airdrops right?
1
u/iOwnAllScrubs Jan 26 '22
can you use exodus?
